Hey everyone! Today is special. Why? Today is the one year anniversary of OhSoSimply’s launch! Back then, we didn’t have any readers. Today, we have some 1,000 readers! Wow!
Next week, we’ll be starting a new behind-the-scenes routine for producing articles and videos and we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming. But, today I just want to take a look back at our first year.
The challenges
The year has had a lot of ups and downs for everyone, including us. With OhSoSimply we’ve had a lot of challenges getting a website up and running for the first time. I’ve never blogged before, so keeping to a regular publishing schedule was entirely new to me.
Then our computer broke! We had to relearn how to do this whole process on an iPad rather than a windows computer. Despite all of that, we’ve gotten into the swing of things and like where we’re at.
New formats
We’ve experimented with a lot of different ideas on this website. We’ve written articles the old fashioned way, recorded podcasts and transcribed it into written articles, recorded “audio articles” for older posts, and now we’ve started going “video first” (not today obviously). This has streamlined our workflow, hopefully resulting in better articles and videos for you guys. Let me know what you think of the new format below in the comments section.
The content
We’ve “spilled a lot of ink” writing this website. As a rough estimate, I’ve written some 55,000 words in our blog this year (roughly 1000+ words per article multiplied by 54 articles). That’s a lot! (For me at least 😂). Hopefully I’ve made every word count. I’ve really been trying to write things that will really help new and experienced nannies alike.

The future
With all of this said, where is OhSoSimply going from here? We’ve had a lot of projects being worked on in the background. Unfortunately, we’ve still got our jobs and other responsibilities taking up our energies. So, it’s taken longer than we would like to complete our OhSoSimply projects.
However, with our new workflow, we plan on getting these projects done soon. “What are these projects” you say?

I’m not going to go into any detail about these here, but I just wanted to give you a little tease. Additionally, we’re going to be releasing more regular sign language content.
As far as the regular articles go, those will be every Friday, just like they have been for the past 52 weeks 😊. Hopefully, we’ll have a video “podcast” accompanying each one that you can watch or listen to instead of reading if that’s your jam.
